Chapter 395 - 395: 395: Bizar Questions
"The Resurrection Stone? It can bring people back to life?"Kasenhis raised an eyebrow as he spoke.
"Even if that is its name, we both know the answer is no," Dumbledore said slowly.
"Seriously unbelievable. You know perfectly well it can't, yet you still tried to put it on? Or are you telling me even a wizard like you can get hypnotized by mental magic?"
Kasenhis snatched the ring from Dumbledore's hand and prepared to completely destroy it with pixel flames.
"Wait..... let me look at it."
Dumbledore stopped him.
Kasenhis placed the ring in the center of his palm.
"You can look at it while it's in my hand. There's no need for you to personally touch the ring."
"Please trust me. I've already let things go. I'm only thinking about how to remove the Dark Magic from this ring. I truly need to use... the Resurrection Stone."
"Consider it an old man's request, alright?"
Dumbledore said pitifully.
"What's the principle behind the Dark Magic on it?"
Rather than handing over the ring, Kasenhis asked a question instead.
"It relies on a powerful curse to erode the human body, ultimately causing death," Dumbledore answered.
"A curse, huh? Then here, take it. Even if you actually put it on, I still have ways to save you."
Only after hearing it was a curse and not some exploding Avada Kedavra did Kasenhis finally relax. As long as it was an external force, he had ways to deal with it.
The noble milk would remove all external effects from the human body.
Dumbledore nodded.
"But there's no need. I don't know exactly when Tom created this Horcrux, but his methods back then clearly couldn't be considered particularly sophisticated."
After speaking, Dumbledore lightly tapped with his wand. Sacred and radiant ancient Pixen Fire slowly drifted from the tip of his wand onto the ring. Instantly, wisps of black-gray aura were burned out from the ring.
"So that's the Dark Magic attached to it?" Kasenhis asked curiously.
"If I wanted to burn away his soul, I'd need Fiendfyre. Ancient Pixen Fire can't accomplish that."
Dumbledore raised an eyebrow as he explained.
"So after this, you can safely wear the ring? You sure Voldemort won't possess you or something?" Kasenhis continued asking.
"You think too highly of him. A soul fragment that's been split apart who knows how many times wants to possess me? Do you really think that's possible?"
Dumbledore proudly lifted his chin. Clearly, when it came to matters of the soul, he possessed a deep sense of superiority over Voldemort.
Very soon, once the Ancient Pixen Fire could only burn with a milky-white flame upon the ring, Dumbledore finally placed the ring back into his palm and slowly put it onto his finger.
He seemed to sense some sort of strange information.
Then he turned to Kasenhis.
"Would you kindly give me some private space?"
Kasenhis nodded.
"No problem."
As he spoke, he prepared to leave the room and wander around the other rooms instead, treating it as a bit of exploration.
"Be careful," Dumbledore reminded him.
"No problem."
Kasenhis answered casually before slowly walking out of the room and heading deeper into the other parts of the manor.
The Gaunt family home had been abandoned for far too long.
So long that throughout the entire manor, aside from the load-bearing pillars and walls that couldn't be removed, even the floorboards and windows had been stripped away by opportunistic thieves.
Perhaps they believed that floorboards and glass belonging to the Gaunt family, direct descendants of Slytherin, carried more cultural value?
Maybe they genuinely did think that way.
Very soon, after hearing Dumbledore call for him, Kasenhis returned to the study once more.
"Later, find Severus and have him soak this ring in Basilisk venom. That should purify it."
Dumbledore handed the ring to Kasenhis as he spoke.
"It's that simple?"
Kasenhis looked surprised. Horcruxes sounded like such high-level, mysterious objects. How could something so crude as soaking them solve the problem?
"That is simply the truth. Back then, our classmate Tom's methods for creating Horcruxes clearly weren't particularly refined. He merely crudely attached his soul onto objects."
Dumbledore replied calmly.
"Then why don't we just soak Harry in venom for two days?"
Kasenhis asked like an endlessly curious child. At this point, even he had lost count of how many questions he'd asked.
"If you did that, I think Tom would be very pleased."
Dumbledore replied helplessly.
"Eh? You said Horcruxes can't be damaged by ordinary spells or physical attacks, so why can Harry still get injured?"
Kasenhis asked again.
"If you had Severus cast Sectumsempra on Harry, or used your wind-cutting magic to slice him into finely minced meat, then perhaps the final result would simply be a pile of flesh paste and Harry's lightning-shaped scar."
Dumbledore answered.
"... Dumbledore, seriously, you actually do have talent for humor!"
Kasenhis looked at Dumbledore in surprise. He had never heard these bizarre Dumbledore-style metaphors before.
The two did not waste too much more time. Although they had already spent quite a while talking nonsense, Dumbledore still efficiently patted Kasenhis on the shoulder and brought him back to the Black family home.
"We still have plenty of time..... perhaps you could go back to sleep for a while."
Dumbledore raised an eyebrow.
"All I can say is—"
Kasenhis stretched lazily.
"Going with you this time was absolutely necessary, so I won't be angry at you anymore."
After speaking, he directly pushed open the door and headed downstairs, planning to see whether today's newspaper had arrived yet.
Upon reaching the first floor, he was surprised to discover Sirius and Lupin already awake early, sitting in the corner playing Wizard Chess.
They looked confused upon seeing Kasenhis.
Likewise, Kasenhis was equally confused upon seeing them.
None of the three were the type to wake up early.
At this moment, Lupin noticed the dust beneath Kasenhis's slippers.
"You... went out?"
"Yeah... went somewhere with Dumbledore."
Kasenhis walked over and sat down on the sofa between the two while casually watching the chess match.
"Was it important?" Sirius asked.
"More or less. That trip was pretty worthwhile."
Kasenhis thought for a moment. If he hadn't gone along, Dumbledore probably would've put on that ring without any precautions at all.
If the ring's curse activated slowly, then it wouldn't have been too bad. One bottle of milk from him and Dumbledore would've instantly returned to full health.
But if the curse activated extremely quickly, things could've become dangerous.
At that point, even if he cured Dumbledore with milk afterward, the old man still might've lost half his life.
After all, he was getting old.
