Chapter 109 The Indestructible Body!
Chapter 109 The Indestructible Body!
Morgan Building in distant London.
In the enclosed meeting room, the faint hum of the air conditioner seemed more pronounced than usual.
Linton sat at one end of the long table, on which lay two neatly bound documents. On the left was the complete encounter report of the westward expedition team, and on the right were photographic analysis data of the mysterious inscription site, as well as professional test data on soil hardness, all arranged neatly.
He had already carefully read through these contents and even studied them twice.
Kenneth stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, dressed in a sharp suit and a neat tie, holding a cup of coffee he hadn't yet tasted.
"The whole story is now very clear." He spoke slowly, his tone calm and restrained, a composure cultivated from his long years in a high position. "Someone figured out our westward route in advance and meticulously planned the path to guide us. The inscription on the ground further illustrates the core issue: FOLLOW THE TRACKS WEST. This is a deliberate lure. The person behind it deliberately lured us into that area, then used a pack of wild hyenas to block and clear the area for them."
Ella sat on the other side of the long table, with her handwritten behavioral analysis manuscript beside her, which she never submitted for public review.
"The person you keep mentioning," she said softly, her tone flat and even, "do you mean you've identified a specific human mastermind, or do you simply need a plausible explanation to forcefully complete your deductive reasoning?"
Kenneth put down his coffee cup, his tone completely flat. "The inscription uses standard English script; wild animals on the savanna couldn't possibly do that. Following this basic logic, there's absolutely no need to involve any vague supernatural explanations."
"I have never made any supernatural speculations," Ella calmly responded. "I only conducted an objective analysis of the behavioral details. The inscription was deliberately placed on the surface of a hard earthen slope, the depth of the inscription is uniform, the spacing between each English letter is neat and consistent, and there are no traces of repeated modifications or polishing throughout the process. Humans simply cannot make such precise and neat inscriptions."
"The only flaw is that it's just too perfect."
"So, in your opinion, what is the reason behind this strange inscription incident?"
"I believe there are many suspicious points in the whole matter, and it is worthwhile to conduct a separate, in-depth, and specialized analysis and investigation."
"That's all the conclusion you've finally reached." Kenneth raised an eyebrow slightly, his tone carrying a hint of skepticism. "Only one simple point is worth analyzing."
Kaller sat in the middle of the long table, remaining silent throughout and not participating in the argument. A thick stack of printed data sheets lay before him, the top page containing the analysis report for the unusual golden hair collected in the wild.
He spoke slowly, his voice soft and weak, breaking the silence in the room. "The unusual hair samples we collected around the western expedition site showed obvious abnormalities in keratin structure, and the distribution pattern of melanin was completely inconsistent with that of conventional wildlife samples."
"Keller," Kenneth interrupted his detailed explanation, his tone not harsh, but carrying a habitual sense of control, "no need to list the trivial details of the test, just state the final conclusion of the hair test."
"A concise answer, summarizing the conclusion in just one sentence is enough."
Kaller paused briefly, quickly refining his words.
"The final test results indicate that the individual to which the hair belongs does not conform to the physiological characteristics of any of the currently known subspecies of African lions."
"Very good." Kenneth picked up his coffee cup again, his expression calm and composed. "Then we can confirm that this is just a special lion with mutated characteristics, a miracle of nature. Either it was deliberately manipulated by someone behind the scenes, or it was a trained individual that was domesticated and released into the grasslands by some human force. This inference is simple and reasonable, and it perfectly fits the basic judgment principle of Occam's Razor."
Ella didn't continue arguing and fell silent.
She turned her head and glanced at Caler beside her.
Kaller looked down and flipped through the data reports in his hand. He turned to the third page, then silently turned back to the first page, remaining silent throughout.
Linton has remained silent and an observer since the start of the meeting.
He finally spoke slowly, his voice low and calm. "Immediately upgrade the investigation level of this unusual grassland incident, increase the number of drones deployed and the frequency of patrols. The entire westward-bound area will be placed under 24-hour key monitoring."
He paused briefly to add more details. "All the speculative analyses regarding the cause of the strange inscriptions in the official reports will not be released to the public for the time being. They will all be classified as internal documents, kept for internal team discussion, and will not be made public for the time being."
Kenneth nodded slightly, his face showing a calm expression of having won the argument.
Ella neither nodded in agreement nor shook her head in rebuttal.
As the meeting ended and everyone left, Linton did not immediately get up to leave.
He picked up the report on the westward journey from the left and placed it on top of the inscription analysis data. Then he carefully placed the attached analysis report, which Ella had submitted separately, at the very bottom of all the documents.
The overhead lights in the conference room were still on.
His palm gently rested on a thick stack of documents, remaining still for several seconds.
After doing all this, he slowly got up, turned off the lights in the room, and left the conference room alone.
The fourteenth day of the dry season.
Chen Fei clearly noticed the unusual changes in his body in the early morning.
This transformation is not sudden or abrupt; it gradually seeps out and spreads from within the body.
It felt as if some unknown force was reorganizing and rebuilding beneath the skin. There was no pain whatsoever, only waves of fine, lingering itching.
He lifted his hind leg and subconsciously scratched the fur on the side of his neck.
It had absolutely no effect whatsoever.
The itching is not located on the surface of the skin, but deep within the body's texture.
Chen Fei stood up and vigorously shook his body. The warm energy flowing within him circulated completely, circulating more smoothly than usual. His previously sluggish meridians seemed to have been completely opened up, and the obstacles to the flow of power throughout his body were instantly reduced significantly.
[Host: Chen Fei]
[Identity: Sub-adult male lion]
[Energy Points: 1198↑]
Two more points of energy are needed.
Only two insignificant points remain.
Chen Fei stared at the numbers on the panel for a moment, then turned and slowly walked towards the pool.
At the edge of the pool, a lone wildebeest remained. For reasons unknown, it had failed to keep up with the migrating herd and stood alone by the water, head bowed, drinking. Its ears twitched slightly, its alertness ever heightened. However, its hind leg bore an old injury, causing it to limp and significantly limiting its movement.
Chen Fei was not impatient at all.
He lay hidden behind a low slope upwind, spreading the warmth within his body evenly over his limbs, and quietly experiencing his new state.
The transformation of one's own fur is a genuine, comprehensive enhancement.
Extending its sharp claws, it gently ran them across the fur on its forearm. The texture was completely different from before; the surface fur had become thicker and denser, with strong, hard roots.
Each hair seems to have undergone a new transformation, not soft and fluffy, but with a firm and resilient texture, feeling like a tightly woven, thick fabric.
He exerted a little force and gently pinched the fur on his forearm with the tip of his claws.
I can clearly feel the squeezing sensation from the external force, but my body's pain perception is significantly weaker than before.
"An indestructible body?" Chen Fei was astonished.
I am undoubtedly evolving into a great demon!
After finishing its drink, the lame wildebeest raised its head and warily scanned the surrounding wilderness. Sensing no danger, it lowered its guard and lowered its head to drink again.
Chen Fei slowly stood up, instantly entering hunting mode.
Without any warning, it launched a direct sprint.
The wildebeest's reaction to danger was extremely sharp; it instantly raised its head and turned, desperately trying to escape. However, a long-standing injury on its right hind leg became an irreparable weakness. Its stride was severely limited, preventing it from accelerating quickly and significantly reducing its explosive sprinting ability.
The speed difference between the two sides widened completely when they took their third step.
Chen Fei pounced forward swiftly, this time without using the heat within his body, relying purely on the explosive power of his physical body and his weight to suppress his prey. He firmly pinned his prey down, precisely locking its throat; the entire sequence of movements was fluid and seamless.
It was clean and efficient, without any unnecessary waste.
[Host: Chen Fei]
[Identity: Sub-adult male lion]
[Energy Points: 1200↑]
It meets the standard.
Just as the energy points reached exactly 1,200, the warm power that had been accumulating within his body suddenly broke through the shackles.
A surge of scalding heat suddenly erupted from his lower abdomen, surging upwards along his body, overflowing his chest, spreading along his spine to his neck, and finally seeping and spreading little by little from the roots of his hair.
An intensely hot touch.
It was a burning heat that spread outwards from the core of the body, like applying a piece of molten iron to the skin, yet without causing any uncomfortable stinging. Instead, it made the whole body feel relaxed and comfortable, exuding an indescribable sense of ease and relaxation.
Chen Fei lay prone beside the wildebeest carcass, quietly feeling the scorching heat flowing through his body.
The scorching heat traveled throughout his body, spreading from his neck and mane to his back, then to the sides of his abdomen, and finally to the extremities.
Every part of the hair shaft that the heat flow passes through will feel a fine, slight tingling sensation, like countless tiny needles gently pricking it, which will disappear in an instant.
It took about fifteen minutes for the burning sensation throughout my body to completely subside and fade away.
Chen Fei slowly stood up and vigorously shook his fur.
The sparse, tender mane on its neck has completely transformed.
He looked down at his chest, where the roots of his once sparse and light-colored mane were now tinged with a very faint golden sheen.
The warm sunlight streamed down, reflecting a faint, shimmering glow.
It is a pure, translucent gold color with a delicate metallic sheen.
It stretched out its paw and gently poked the new hair on both sides of its abdomen.
The elasticity of the hair is greatly improved, and the overall density doubles.
Press down hard, and you can clearly feel the solid and hard resistance at your fingertips; your physical defenses visibly become stronger.
"Truly an indestructible body!"
Just as he was about to lower his head to enjoy his prey and replenish his strength, a low, long, low-frequency humming sound suddenly came from the distant wilderness horizon, slowly spreading outwards.
