Conflux System: I Can Merge Anything

Chapter 123 123: The Key Of Oblivion

Chapter 123 123: The Key Of Oblivion

All things merge in one another—good into evil, generosity into justice, and religion into politics.

But right now, Zane didn't go that deep as he thought of only merging one thing at the moment.

The Flame ring on his finger.

It can store things, many things. That was already impressive and that impressiveness evoked Zane's greed.

His greed being…

What if I merge it with something?

Fortunately, he had the means of satisfying his greed.

Can I merge it?

[ Yes. ]

Zane smiled.

He looked around the room.

It had nothing of value.

But inside his left fist, he did have something.

The heirloom.

He stared at it but then shook his head.

It isn't mine. I have to return it.

He threw the idea away and raced his mind for something else.

He could either use the Free Merge to merge the ring with anything or he could simply use an object and use one Merge Point to create something.

I won't use the Free Merge for this. It would be a waste.

Zane would only use another object and for that, he thought about all the objects that he owned.

He checked his pants.

They had nothing.

He tapped his shirt's pocket and felt something.

He knew what it was as he had kept them inside his pocket himself.

The photograph of his parents and the Remembering Needle.

I should store the photograph inside the ring too.

Zane wouldn't like Milo seeing it.

So he stored it before anything else and held the Remembering Needle.

It was a merged item Zane had got from joining the memory key and lockpick.

A strange idea flashed inside his mind and he asked it right away:

Can I merge an already merged item again?

[ For the last time, you can merge anything. ]

Zane smiled.

Alright then.

He stared at the key with oval shapes on both its sides.

He removed the ring from his finger as well.

He put both the needle and the ring on the table beside the bed and did what no one could:

Merge the Flame Ring and the Remembering Needle.

[ Command Accepted! ]

[ Merging Initiated… ]

TRNNNG!

Both the ring and the Needle vibrated on the table and Zane watched them closely.

No matter how many times he saw it, he wouldn't be satisfied with the process.

Both objects left the table and hovered in the air.

The two of them circled in the air, their speed becoming faster and faster.

With each spin they came closer to each other and as the sound of their first contact came, they joined each other.

Zane wasn't able to see anything as it had become a blur and before he knew it…

TUD!

The finished product fell on the table.

His hands dashed towards it and held it.

It was a ring.

But instead of its original color, it had now become pitch black.

[ Merge Successfull! ]

[ One Merge Point Used! ]

Show me the result.

[ Name: Key Of Oblivion ]

[ Tier: Convergence Tier — D (?) ]

[ Type: Tool/Catalyst/Object ]

[ Properties:- 3 ]

[ 1. Inventory: Can contain anything inside it. ]

[ 2. Infiltration: Can open any locks in a second. The locks that are magically protected would take time to be opened. ]

[ 3. ???: It can act on its own to ### the user might find himself %%% ]

[[ Warning from Conflux: Don't use it often until you can handle the locks it will open. ]]

Zane read the details and it was what he had expected.

The third property remained the same but the first two were sure an improvement.

The ring would now open any locks. There was no failure mapping anymore. And the storage function of the ring stayed the same. It might have gotten larger if anything.

Zane examined the new Ring from all sides.

The Key of Oblivion. What's that supposed to mean?

[ Not enough information. But the key you found in your parents' bag wasn't normal. That I can assure you. ]

Zane sighed.

He didn't know what to expect.

The ring now had a glass on top of it, like a gem, it was of oval shape and it was also black.

Zane's face reflected on it and he didn't know how he should use the ring to open locks.

He also didn't know what he would say if someone asked him about it. The ring had changed significantly after all.

I'll think about it later.

He wore the ring or the key and turned to the door.

He also shoved the red heirloom inside his pants and finally, he was out of the room.

He stretched his arms.

I hope they are eating well… The shit?

Zane's eyes went to the stairs and everything was the same as he had left.

Not one person had moved upstairs.

They also saw Zane and waved at him.

Zane strided towards them.

"I told all of you to go. What are you doing here?"

He asked in a rough manner and his target was Xavier.

Xavier raised both his hands.

"I tried. But all of us thought we would eat together. Especially not without you."

Zane pressed his temples.

"Where is Milo?"

"I am here!"

Zane frowned.

Milo's voice sounded cheerful and happy.

He looked for the source of her happiness and his brows shot up.

She was with Tesla.

Tesla's arms.

The merchant carried her.

He was constantly spewing something to her ears and Milo was laughing non-stop because of it.

"What are you teaching her?" Zane said and extended his hands to Milo.

Tesla shook his head and Milo hopped onto Zane from Tesla.

"This is who you meant by handsome uncle?" Zane asked his sister.

Milo nodded. "Yes. He is a handsome uncle."

Tesla scratched the back of his head, smiling.

"She also called you an uncle. Be sad about it too."

Tesla opened his mouth but…

"Wait. Where is the real uncle?" Zane looked around.

"Who?" Xavier asked.

"Jammy. Where is he?"

The janitor wasn't anywhere to be seen.

"I am here."

His hoarse voice came.

All heads moved towards the sound and surprisingly, all of them were looking downwards.

Tesla shifted to the side and the janitor was finally visible.

Zane saw his back as the man was sitting on the stairs with his head facing the wall.

The gutterborns were in front of him but his eyes didn't register them. His eyes were looking somewhere else. In the future.

Zane gulped.

"... Jammy, what happened?"

"I want to know something very important for this mission." Jammy spoke.

Everyone turned serious.

Zane stepped forward and placed his hand on Jammy's shoulder.

"Yes. Ask me. Whatever it is."

Jammy nodded, not averting his eyes from the empty wall.

But then, he jerked his head at Zane and finally asked the very important question.

"Am I really not handsome?"

" ... "
