My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot

Chapter 464 - 426: A Peculiar Person

Chapter 464 - 426: A Peculiar Person

Aurora Sinclair glanced at the two men, took the letter, and returned to her office, telling them to come inside.

In the letter, Francis Sloan stated that the prisoner was a good friend of his, an upright man who could not possibly be a serial killer. He wanted to obtain a new statement from him.

Aurora Sinclair looked at Hogg and said to the Basic Supervisor, "Go get Lord Morgan."

Hogg seemed to stiffen for a moment.

Aurora Sinclair continued, "Before you go to Zone A to record a new statement, explain the entire case in detail to my man here."

"Well... Lord Sinclair, this matter is quite extensive. Lord Sloan doesn’t want too many people to know."

But Aurora Sinclair replied nonchalantly, "This assistant of mine is my confidant. He can be trusted."

A moment later, Alvin Morgan arrived in a hurry.

"Lord Sinclair..."

Aurora Sinclair pointed at Hogg and introduced him. "This is Hogg, from The International Martial Arts Bureau. He’s here to re-examine the case of the high-profile criminal Ilinger in Zone A. Go over the case details with him."

Alvin Morgan looked at Hogg, the corner of his mouth lifting into a smirk. "Ilinger, the high-profile criminal from Zone A, is the prime suspect in the major robbery Case 413. When he was arrested, he was caught red-handed with the stolen goods, and the chain of evidence was complete. Why the re-examination now? Have you found some new discrepancy?"

Hogg’s expression turned grim and quite serious.

"The cat’s eye stone that went missing in Ilinger’s last case has yet to be found, so..."

"Page 23 of the unreleased case file states that the cat’s eye stone the owner reported missing was a fake."

Hogg was at a loss for words, a hint of embarrassment on his face.

Alvin Morgan continued, "Are there any other discrepancies?"

Hogg was silent for a long time. A dangerous glint appeared in Aurora Sinclair’s eyes. "What is your real reason for going to Zone A?"

Hogg immediately grew flustered. He glanced at the Basic Supervisor and asked anxiously, "Lord Sinclair, may I have a word in private?"

Aurora Sinclair studied him for a moment, then glanced at the Basic Supervisor, who took the hint and immediately left, closing the door behind him.

Hogg immediately raised his hands and bowed respectfully before pulling another letter from his coat.

"My apologies, Lord Sinclair. Lord Sloan wanted me to take this letter to cell 3 in Zone A. The person held there is his dearest friend..."

Aurora Sinclair was slightly taken aback. She glanced at Alvin Morgan and asked impassively, "Why the deception?"

"Lord Sloan mainly wanted to avoid suspicion. The International Penitentiary has a rule against outside visitors for Zone A criminals. So..."

"Since the penitentiary has such a rule, Lord Sinclair will deliver this letter on your behalf."

Alvin Morgan answered directly for Aurora Sinclair, cutting Hogg off.

Aurora Sinclair glanced at Alvin Morgan again, then said flatly, "I will deliver the letter for you."

"Lord Sloan wanted me to take down his reply..."

"I will take it down and personally relay it to Lord Sloan. You should go back now..."

Hogg seemed reluctant to accept this, but he was still escorted out of the International Penitentiary.

After he left, Aurora Sinclair finally looked at Alvin Morgan, who was casually sipping tea beside her.

"Was there something wrong with that man?"

"Yes. There’s an eighty percent chance he’s Elias Lennox."

Upon hearing this, Aurora Sinclair’s expression instantly turned cold. "Why did you let him go?"

"He must have a purpose for infiltrating The International Martial Arts Bureau. It’s not the right time to alert the enemy."

"Then this letter..."

"It’s bait. He wants you to go into Zone A and meet this person..."

***

The International Penitentiary’s special prison area is divided into Sector S, and Zones A, B, C, and D, which house criminals according to their level of danger.

The criminals in Sector S and Zone A are the most dangerous and possess extremely high strength, generally at least at the Advanced Martial King Realm.

Therefore, criminals in these two areas are not allowed visitors, nor are Basic Supervisors from within the penitentiary permitted to enter.

Entry is only possible when personally escorted by an Intermediate Supervisor.

Alvin Morgan had wanted to accompany her, but Aurora Sinclair refused, telling him to wait at the entrance to Zone A.

The structure here was the same as in Zone C.

A long corridor was flanked by independent cells on both sides.

However, these cells were larger and brighter compared to those in Zone C.

The silent corridor was quiet to the point of being oppressive.

Due to the special nature of the criminals, laser beams were installed outside each cell door.

Even the prisoners inside the rooms wore special collars and iron chains on their necks and limbs.

Even so, she could feel the oppressive aura in the corridor.

’It’d be truly difficult for anyone below the rank of a Martial Lord to even walk in here.’

Aurora Sinclair walked past the cells one by one until she reached the door of cell 3.

Peering through the small window, she saw a person sitting on the bed inside, their head lowered as if asleep.

Long hair obscured their entire face, making it impossible to see their features.

It seemed he was missing an arm and a leg, but he still wore a collar with special metal chains attached.

Aurora Sinclair swiped her access card, and the lasers and electronic lock on the door deactivated simultaneously.

She pushed open the cell door and walked slowly inside.

The person on the bed slowly raised their head, revealing a pair of pitch-black eyes. They were hazy and gray, as if they couldn’t see any light.

Aurora Sinclair’s expression tightened. She raised a hand and waved it, only to hear a hoarse voice say, "Don’t bother. I can’t see you."

Beneath the thick hair was a face full of scars, pitted and uneven, and monstrously ugly.

Aurora Sinclair pressed her lips together and stopped about two steps from the bed.

"Someone outside sent a letter for you."

The man let out a soft, wheezing laugh, as if he couldn’t catch his breath.

"Then that person definitely has ill intentions. It’s better not to read it."

Aurora Sinclair recalled his case file. It identified him as Todd Linton, the prime suspect in a major serial bombing case.

She didn’t quite understand what purpose Elias Lennox had in sending her to see this man.

Just then, the man on the bed suddenly praised her, "Judging by your voice, you must be a young lady, right? I never thought someone like you could make it here. Truly, the younger generation is to be feared."

Aurora Sinclair watched him for a moment, then looked down and tore open the letter, intending to read it aloud.

The man spoke again. "It’s not nice to read other people’s mail."

Aurora Sinclair glanced at his outstretched hand, pressed her lips together tightly, and placed the letter in it.

The man seemed to smile, then suddenly clenched his fist. The letter crumbled to dust, sifting through his fingers like sand.

Aurora Sinclair’s gaze darkened slightly. "What’s your name?" she asked.

The man seemed to pause for a second, then chuckled again. "It’s written in the case file!"

A sudden anger flared in Aurora Sinclair. She strode forward and roughly pushed his hair back to get a clear look at his face, but it was completely disfigured, utterly unrecognizable.

"Miss, even if you’re in charge of this prison, criminals have human rights too..."

Aurora Sinclair let go and stepped back a few paces. She studied him one last time before turning to leave.

Waiting outside Zone A, Alvin Morgan saw Aurora Sinclair emerge with a grim expression. He came forward and took her somewhat cold hand.

"Did you see him?"

"Yes."

"Anything distinctive about him?"

Aurora Sinclair seemed to find it hard to put into words. Finally, she replied, "A strange man."

"A strange man?"

Aurora Sinclair briefly recounted their conversation.

Alvin Morgan’s handsome brows furrowed slightly. After a long moment of thought, he said, "Take me inside."

’Elias Lennox would never do something without a reason.’

’Unless... this person has some connection to Aurora Sinclair...’
