Chapter 206 Illusion
Chapter 206 Illusion
The entrance to the basement was hidden behind a secret door beneath the stairs. The man in black skillfully opened the secret door and vanished into the darkness in a flash.
Lin Yeming and Lucia cautiously followed them inside, and a damp, musty smell hit them.
The basement was dimly lit, with only a few light bulbs flickering as if they might go out at any moment.
Various miscellaneous items were neatly arranged on both sides of the passageway.
They walked along the passage, trying to make as little noise as possible so as not to alert the men in black ahead.
Suddenly, a low roar came from ahead. It didn't sound like a human voice, but rather like the roar of some kind of wild beast that had been trapped.
Lin Yeming and Lucia exchanged a glance and quickened their pace.
After turning a corner, they saw a huge iron cage containing a distorted monster.
The monster was covered in black fur, had strong and powerful limbs, and its eyes gleamed with an eerie red light.
It kept banging against the iron cage, letting out angry roars.
Beside the iron cage stood several men in black, holding weapons and watching the monster warily.
"What is this?" Lucia asked softly, her eyes filled with surprise and fear.
"I don't know, but it's definitely related to the missing persons case," Lin Yeming replied in a low voice, his eyes fixed on the iron cage and the men in black around him.
Just then, the man in the suit from before also came to the basement.
He glanced at the monster in the iron cage, a satisfied smile appearing on his face: "Very good, this test subject is in good condition. Notify the others to speed up preparations; the midnight handover cannot go wrong."
“Yes, sir,” a man in black replied, then hurriedly left.
Lin Yeming's heart skipped a beat; it seemed that this monster was the so-called "goods".
But why would these vampires capture ordinary people to use as test subjects? He decided to take the risk and try to find out.
Lin Yeming deliberately made a noise to attract the attention of the men in black. "Who's there?" one of the men in black shouted, walking towards the direction where they were hiding, weapon in hand.
Lin Yeming emerged from his hiding place, arms crossed, looking calm: "No need to look anymore, we're right here."
The man in black was taken aback when he saw Lin Yeming and Lucia, then shouted, "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
The man in the suit turned around and, upon seeing Lin Yeming and Lucia, his expression turned extremely ugly: "So it's you. How dare you follow us? Did you think you could escape so easily?"
Lin Yeming sneered: "Escape? We never intended to escape. I'd like to ask you, what exactly is your purpose in capturing these ordinary people to use as experimental subjects?"
The man in the suit chuckled dismissively. "You think you can find out our plans? You're too naive. But since you've delivered yourselves to our doorstep, don't blame me for being impolite." With that, he waved his hand, and several men in black rushed towards Lin Yeming and Lucia.
Lin Yeming and Lucia showed no fear and quickly got into position.
Lin Yeming deftly deflected the swords and knives thrusting at him with a flick of his folding fan, and at the same time seized an opportunity to kick one of the men in black away.
Lucia, with her agile movements, moved freely among the men in black, her punches and kicks raining down, each strike accurately hitting the men's vital points.
In an instant, shouts of killing erupted from the basement.
Although the number of men in black was large, Lin Yeming and Lucia cooperated well and were not at a disadvantage.
However, just as the two sides were locked in fierce combat, the monster inside the iron cage suddenly let out a deafening roar, broke free of its restraints, and pounced towards the group...
The monster was incredibly fast, instantly charging into the crowd. It swung its thick arms, sending the approaching men in black flying like ants. Terrified screams erupted from the men in black, their attacks on Lin Yeming and Lucia crumbling instantly, and everyone's attention turned to the out-of-control monster.
"Watch out!" Lin Yeming shouted, pulling Lucia quickly to the side. The monster rampaged, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake, sending debris flying everywhere in the basement.
The man in the suit's face turned extremely ugly. He shouted at the remaining men in black, "Quick, stop it! Don't let it get away!" Although the men in black looked afraid, under the man in the suit's pressure, they still gritted their teeth and surrounded the monster.
The monster was completely unafraid of the men in black. It possessed immense strength and broke through their encirclement in a few moves, charging towards Lin Yeming and Lucia once more. Lucia seized the opportunity, leaping forward and delivering a powerful kick to the monster's head. The monster was slightly knocked back by the sudden attack, but quickly recovered, extending its claws to grab Lucia.
Upon seeing this, Lin Yeming rushed over without hesitation, intending to channel his inner energy into the fan.
Internal energy?
He was clearly planning to use Ultra Telekinesis!
"boom!"
The illusions around them shattered abruptly, revealing the actual situation on the ground.
The men in black were lying on the ground. Opposite them stood a giant bat statue with its blood-red eyes staring at them.
Lin Yeming then realized with a start that everything that had just happened seemed like an illusion.
Lucia stood not far from him, looking around with tears in her eyes, clearly having just escaped from the illusion.
She saw Lin Yeming and immediately rushed over and crashed into his arms.
Lin Yeming hugged her and gently patted her back, saying, "It's alright, it's alright, it was all fake."
"We just accidentally fell for the statue's trick."
Once Lucia calmed down, Lin Yeming released his grip on her.
He took photos of the scene and sent them all to Horii.
After doing all that, he wanted to check on the men in black, but he felt a tugging force on his clothes.
Lucia looked at Lin Yeming with her big, watery eyes, as if to tell him not to leave.
