Chapter 27 Contract Signing
Chapter 27 Contract Signing
The four characters alone are "defying fate and changing destiny".
I felt as if I were carrying a thousand-pound burden on my shoulders.
I slowly stood up and walked towards the huge floor-to-ceiling window, each step hesitant yet firm.
I know this is the only way I can get energy; life is a series of challenges.
When I stood by the window, my gaze involuntarily drifted downstairs.
The streets were bustling with traffic, with cars coming and going like a flowing river. Some sped by, kicking up clouds of dust, while others moved slowly, as if held back by an invisible force.
I said in a casual tone, "Chairman Hua, I agree to your request! Are you sure you want to sacrifice your soul and memories?" After saying this, it felt like I was asking if I'd had breakfast. So ordinary and unremarkable. It didn't sound like I was deciding someone's life or death at all.
Parents' love for their children is selfless and unconditional, without holding back even the smallest bit. Since they haven't experienced it themselves, they don't care.
Upon hearing this, Hua Yuncheng remained silent for a moment, then burst into laughter, "To live a lifetime and be able to exchange my old man's life for my son's, I've made a profit!"
I glanced at Huayun City and thought to myself that I, Huan Yuechu, would never have sacrificed myself like this.
"Is it worth it? If you take back your request, you'll have a next life; otherwise, you'll be doomed forever."
"There's no such thing as worth it or not, only willingness. Boss lady, when you find your family, they will love you just as much and be willing to give everything for you. Then you'll understand!"
I asked myself in my heart, would it be true? Both the original owner and I may have had fantasies, but reality shattered everything.
Our goals are both to live and to attain enlightenment; the two are not in conflict.
I looked down at the endless stream of cars. Some cars had families inside, their laughter drifting out of the windows; others had only the driver, his expression serious and focused as he gripped the steering wheel. And some taxis busily weaved through the traffic, picking up and dropping off passengers to their respective destinations.
I watched all this quietly, my mind filled with countless thoughts. These vehicles were like passersby on the road of life, coming and going in a hurry, each with their own direction and goals.
Then I thought about it again. If she had family, would they have put her in an orphanage? As for me, I was born of fate, without father or mother. As the saying goes, "If one person is full, the whole family is not hungry. As for melancholy, that thing doesn't exist."
After thinking it through, I cleared my mind of distractions, stayed true to my original intention, and solemnly asked, "Mr. Hua Yuncheng, are you sure you've thought this through and want to make this exchange?"
When Hua Yuncheng heard me call his name, he paused for a second, then his eyes hardened, and without the slightest hesitation, he said loudly, "I'm sure."
Seeing his resolute attitude, I immediately stopped hesitating, my eyes sharp and decisive, "Seven Emotions, Contract Agreement Generated."
"Master, the contract has been generated and placed in the cleaning tools."
Uh! Seven Emotions, why don't you just give it to me directly? Can't you be a little more reliable?
“Master, agreements cannot appear out of thin air; if discovered, there will be punishment.”
I rolled my eyes. How come I didn't know about this?
"Master, this is the first time I've heard this either," Qiqing said, sounding aggrieved.
I went straight to the cleaning tools; thankfully there was no water, otherwise…
"Master, all products from Seven Emotions are of the highest quality, guaranteed to be waterproof, shockproof, and resistant to bad guys."
You should stop talking! It makes me seem ignorant.
I took an ancient parchment scroll from my cleaning toolbox, which was covered with mysterious runes.
Just as Hua Yuncheng cautiously reached out his hands, preparing to take the scroll from my hands, I spoke in a deep and unquestionable voice.
"Hua Yuncheng, now that you've decided to sign this contract, remember this: you only have three days left. After three days, no matter what happens, I will come to take you away from here as agreed."
My words struck Hua Yuncheng like a thunderclap, leaving him unable to calm down for a long time.
Hua Yuncheng took the scroll, and without hesitation, dipped his finger in blood and signed his name on the scroll.
As he finished signing, the runes on the scroll flashed with dazzling light, and a powerful energy wave swept through the entire room.
"The contract is complete."
I whispered, “From this moment on, your soul and memories will be sacrificed in exchange for your son’s life.”
I left the Huashi Group with the scroll, my heart filled with mixed emotions.
Back at the inn, I lay wearily on the bed, pondering my future plans.
Just then, my phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number. I answered it hesitantly, and a deep male voice came from the other end: "Thank you for saving my father."
I immediately became alert: "Who are you? How do you know it was me who saved your father? And who is your father?"
The other party chuckled lightly: "Don't be nervous, I am Hua Yuncheng's son. I have been searching for a way to save my father, and when I learned that you had signed a contract with him, I found your contact information."
I frowned; we were completely on different wavelengths. "What do you mean by saving your father? Isn't he trying to save you?"
"It's not time for you to know now. What will happen to my father after the contract takes effect?" He pretended to be profound, but his voice was full of worry.
After a moment of silence, I told him, “Hua Yuncheng’s soul and memories will be sacrificed, but his son will be saved as a result, which means you will be saved, though it is also possible that you will fail.”
The contract clearly stipulates that it cannot be told to people who are not related by blood that Hua Zijun and Hua Yuncheng are father and son, so it can be said.
He breathed a sigh of relief after hearing that: "Thank you. However, there's one more thing... I hope you can do me another favor."
"What kind of help?" I asked warily.
"I hope you can protect my father's safety after the contract takes effect."
He said, "After all, you signed a contract, and I trust you won't let him get hurt."
My mind went blank. Was this guy just pretending to be stupid? I snapped, "Are you kidding me? Time's up. I'm taking him away. Do you understand what I mean? Shouldn't you be cherishing the person in front of you and enjoying your last moments with your child?"
“I know exactly what you mean, but please help me protect my father and keep this from me. Everything will be revealed in three days.”
My eyes flashed with murderous intent as I looked out the window. A loud bang followed, and a bamboo stalk snapped in half. I said coldly, "How did you know the exact time?"
Seeing that the matter was already settled, Hua Zijun made no attempt to hide anything and said calmly, "I installed a listening device in my father's office. Otherwise, do you think you could have entered the upper echelons of the Hua Group and seen my father successfully sign the contract without lifting a finger?"
I felt very uncomfortable because I was under someone else's control from beginning to end.
Hua Zijun twirled the pen in her hand and chuckled softly, "You don't need to worry. Whether it was the last time I invited you to dinner or this time, my purpose has always been to need your help. It won't cause you any loss."
I said coldly, "The contract is set and cannot be changed!"
