Chapter 8 Attendance
Chapter 8 Attendance
Around 3 p.m., Wei Hongsi's report, which he had submitted that morning, was still in the stage of being reviewed by the director, and he finally felt a little anxious.
The time-limited task from the "system" doesn't have much time left.
Although he still has doubts about whether the "system" truly exists, it does not diminish his desire to complete the mission.
He was also eager to see what changes would occur to the ghostly text after the mission was completed.
Just as he was about to go to the break room to get some iced water, a meeting notification popped up on his WD, asking him to attend a meeting in room 2210 immediately. The meeting topic and requirements were all blank.
At the same time, several words emitting a yellow light appeared in front of them.
[Risk Warning!]
Although it wasn't as shocking as the red lettering I'd seen the previous two times, it still had a particularly jarring effect.
Generally, a yellow warning level is lower than a red one. So, does this mean that while there is danger, it's not particularly serious?
Wei Hongsi pondered the meaning of the yellow warning sign before getting up to take the elevator.
When I came out on the 22nd floor, I found that the elevator lobby on this floor was different from the other floors. Not only was there only one entrance and exit passage connected to the elevator lobby, but it also had a turnstile access control like the lobby on the 1st floor. Even the security guards on duty next to the turnstiles had a different spirit.
Wei Hongsi swiped his ID card on the access control screen, and his personal employment information appeared on the display screen next to him, with a note below: 2210 Attending the meeting.
After entering the turnstile, a security guard took out a small plastic basket and asked him to temporarily store all his electronic devices there.
Wei Hongsi put his name tag inside and patted his pocket to indicate that he had nothing else.
Another security guard carefully scanned him with a handheld metal detector, then led him to conference room 2210 and knocked lightly on the door twice.
The person who opened the door was also a security guard. After letting Wei Hongsi in, he pointed out a direction to him.
When Wei Hongsi saw that the security guard was pointing to the area behind Yu Sheng, he nodded and walked in that direction, while also glancing around at the conference room.
At the head of the enormous conference table sat the company president, Dai Songquan; to the left and right of him were the general managers of the six major centers.
These people are the company's true senior executives. Wei Hongsi had never met most of them, but he had seen their photos during the onboarding training and could recognize them.
Below the general manager sat seven other people, none of whom Wei Hongsi recognized except for Yu Sheng. Yu Sheng's seat was at the very end of the left side, suggesting he was at least a director-level official.
The large conference room was only occupied by fourteen people, making it seem somewhat empty.
However, the situation was quite different from what Wei Hongsi had expected. Everyone had smiles on their faces, and the room was filled with a cheerful atmosphere.
He tiptoed behind Yu Sheng and sat down in a chair in the back row, where he heard Dai Songquan talking about things like physical and mental health.
I thought to myself, "So we haven't gotten to the main point yet. But since they called me over, it should be soon."
"Everyone should not be like President Xia, who delayed treatment for a minor illness and ended up in the hospital." Dai Songquan said, pointing to the empty table to his left, and then talked about some health preservation methods.
In fact, most of the management personnel present are between forty and fifty years old. Even Dai Songquan himself is only forty-seven or forty-eight, which is the prime of his life.
Everyone knew perfectly well that Dai Songquan was pulling them aside to talk about these trivial matters because there must be a serious situation at the company, and he needed to separate them to do some investigation work.
After working at the company for so many years, who hasn't made mistakes? If you really investigated thoroughly, it would be quite a challenge. But when the CEO speaks, who can resist? So all I can do is smile on the surface and wait anxiously on the side.
The conference room door suddenly opened, and a tall, thin man wearing glasses walked in. As he walked in, he smiled and nodded at the people looking at him.
This man was Ji Yongsheng, the company's vice president. He walked to the head of the table, bowed to Dai Songquan, and then sat down to his right.
Dai Songquan nodded and continued, "In short, everyone should take care of their health. Apart from Shi Ming, there's also that young man from the research center here, none of us are exactly young anymore."
Seeing several gazes sweeping over him, Wei Hongsi had no choice but to put on a smile and nod in response.
"Alright, that's all I have to say. The rest of the time is up to General Manager Ji." After saying that, Dai Songquan leaned back in his chair, as if he had suddenly distanced himself from the conference table.
Ji Yongsheng smiled and nodded to everyone, then said, "I've been dealing with some tedious matters this afternoon, so I'm sorry I'm late. Coincidentally, a friend sent me some tea a couple of days ago, so please have a taste as an apology. If you like it, you can pick it up from my office later."
He looked towards the conference room door and gestured. The security guard at the door opened it, and two service staff members came in carrying trays, placing a glass in front of each person.
When a waiter offered Wei Hongsi tea, he waved his hand, indicating that he didn't need it. He didn't have the habit of drinking tea, and there was no table in front of him, with soft chairs on both sides, making it difficult to place a cup.
After the meeting room door closed again, Ji Yongsheng said, "This noon, President Gu talked to me. As everyone knows, he's young and doesn't take naps. But I can't help it; I had just dozed off when he woke me up, and my head was throbbing. But as soon as I heard what he had to say, I immediately became wide awake, it was even more effective than having a bucket of cold water poured over my head."
The crowd chuckled along as Ji Yongsheng spoke the first half of his sentence. But the atmosphere froze after he finished.
"Everyone's curious about what President Gu told me, right? Let's not rush, let's follow the company's rules." Ji Yongsheng said, looking at someone on his right, "Director Song, please distribute the agreement to everyone."
The director in question, named Song Jingcheng, was the head of the company's legal department and sat diagonally opposite Yu Sheng.
He unfolded the folder in his hand, took out a stack of printed A4 papers, stood up and handed a copy to everyone present, including Dai Songquan and several security guards in the conference room.
Wei Hongsi glanced at the contents printed on the paper. It turned out to be a confidentiality agreement, which listed several clauses, all of which were agreements regarding the matters to be discussed and resolved at this meeting.
After everyone had signed, Song Jingcheng put the agreement away and handed it to Ji Yongsheng.
Ji Yongsheng carefully reviewed everyone's signatures, then tucked them into a folder. He crossed his hands on the table, his expression turning somewhat serious: "I will be chairing this meeting in my capacity as the head of the emergency response team. Your cooperation is appreciated."
