CHAPTER 390 - Dragon Intervenes, The Pursuit
CHAPTER 390 - Dragon Intervenes, The Pursuit
"What are you coming back for? Are you an idiot?" Seeing that Hathaway not only hadn't left but had instead followed him and was now charging towards Aokiji, Rosen snapped coldly.
"You remember those words. Once we survive this, I won't forget you scolding me," Hathaway bit her red lip, muttering through clenched teeth.
"Uh..." Rosen was taken aback. Was she going to settle accounts over this? That's unnecessary. I haven't done anything to you. In this situation, the most rational thing is for whoever can leave to leave.
Isn't your focus a bit off, lady?
Garp didn't speak, simply doing his duty. His fist smashed towards Rosen. Rosen was severely wounded, not just ordinarily so. That earlier attack was from an absolute force several times stronger than him.
That direct clash, though brief, had nearly cost Rosen half his life. Now facing Garp's attack, he couldn't hold his ground, being completely overwhelmed as his injuries worsened.
If this continued, Rosen would be killed before long.
"Yasakani no Magatama!" Kizaru seized the chance to unleash a wide-area attack. Countless light pellets struck Rosen. Though not concentrated, Kizaru only aimed to ensure hits to inflict further damage, which was enough.
"Bang!" A gunshot rang out. A special bullet, like a rainbow, pierced through the entire battlefield—a swift meteor instantly shredding all the light pellets.
"Huh?" Kizaru was startled. What kind of gun fired such an overbearing attack? Tracing the aura, Kizaru saw someone who gave him a headache: Benn Beckman! Vice Captain of the Red-Haired Pirates.
And Red-Haired had already drawn his sword. Since persuasion failed, only force remained to stop this war.
"Bastard! How dare you hurt the captain of the one this Empress has set her sights on!" Boa Hancock was furious. If this continued, Hathaway would likely die too. That was absolutely unacceptable.
"What are you doing, Boa Hancock?!" A Vice Admiral felt a figure rushing towards him at high speed. Upon recognizing who it was, he shouted.
"Silence! Perfume Femur!" *Thud!* A solid kick landed squarely on the Vice Admiral. He couldn't believe it. Wasn't she an ally? Damn it! But he was sent flying, very far away.
"Pirate Empress Hancock, do you realize what you're doing?" a Marine Rear Admiral immediately glared at her.
"Our agreement was fulfilled just moments ago. Now, this Empress simply dislikes you ganging up on the few. Is that not allowed?" The Empress's face was grim, her Conqueror's Haki pressure making the Rear Admiral tremble slightly.
She looked so beautiful even like this.
"I-it's not exactly disallowed..." the Rear Admiral stammered, fear and lust rising simultaneously.
"Hmph..." The Empress gave a tsundere snort and continued rushing towards the battlefield...
Garp's iron fist was also hammering towards Rosen's head.
And in that instant, the weather changed abruptly. Dark clouds gathered, lightning flashed, thunder roared, and a fierce wind began to howl. Then, a bone-chilling, torrential downpour poured down. The entire Marine Headquarters was enveloped in an eerie breeze.
This sudden weather shift made many glance over, but the Grand Line's climate was always like this, not particularly noteworthy. The next moment, however, was different.
"This doesn't seem like your style. Stop." From among the pirates, a figure cloaked in a hood stepped forward. As he moved, the weather grew increasingly restless.
The wind grew more piercing, the thunder louder, the rain more torrential.
As his voice sounded, he took a step and instantly appeared before Garp, raising a hand to block the punch.
"Bastard! It's you, you brat! How dare you show your face before me!" Garp recognized the face, his anger boiling even more. His other iron fist lashed out.
Dragon actually subconsciously retreated a small step. This tiny movement was almost imperceptible, only Rosen behind him could see it. This subconscious reaction... could it be Dragon was also beaten growing up and had psychological trauma?
Seemed not impossible.
But Dragon still caught the punch.
"This... this is... Dragon, leader of the Revolutionary Army!" Many Marines and pirates recognized the figure, horrified. This was the world's most dangerous criminal, his threat level even exceeding the Emperors.
He was here too! What was happening?! A world war? The reporters at Sabaody Archipelago felt their brains trembling. This was getting more and more terrifying. Would the war never end?!
What about ordinary people like them, especially on islands like Sabaody so close to Headquarters? If fighting broke out, could they escape unharmed?
"I think, as Red-Haired suggested, it's time to end this war. Sengoku, Kong." Dragon calmly looked at Fleet Admiral Sengoku and Fleet Admiral Kong, remaining composed before the two Admirals.
"Dragon, you bastard! Why are you here?!" Sengoku's face was ashen, couldn't be more livid. First an Emperor, now Revolutionary Army Dragon. Were they joining forces to destroy Marine Headquarters?
If Sengoku didn't know the two had no connection, he might have thought so.
But Dragon's appearance was definitely not a good sign. True, the World Government had wanted to capture Dragon for a long time.
But definitely not under these circumstances. Since he appeared voluntarily, who knew what other measures he had arranged?
After all, this was Dragon, the world's most dangerous, most cunning criminal, whom the World Government had failed to capture many times before.
"And if we are unwilling to stop?" Fleet Admiral Kong said coldly, wondering if they could seize this chance to capture Dragon. Even if it cost the Admirals lives, capturing him might be worth it.
But it was just a thought. Not to mention Dragon's own bizarre abilities, immense strength, and elusive nature, Red-Haired alone wouldn't stand by and let it happen.
The chain reaction would be terrifying. If the Revolutionary Army fell, the World Government would have more power to contest influence in the New World.
That was a scenario no Emperor wanted to see.
"Let's go!" Rosen had no interest in watching them continue to bicker.
Though unsure of the situation, since Dragon blocked Garp, it seemed he also intended to end the war. With many other combatants blocked, if they didn't run now, this slim chance might vanish.
Opportunities were fleeting.
Emperors were rare, Dragon even rarer, a father-son reunion more intriguing, and Fleet Admiral Kong a legend among legends. But curiosity killed the cat. Watching further might cost them their lives.
Rosen grabbed Hathaway's hand.
"Awakening: Domain Rampage!" Rosen stomped the ground, propelling himself into the air, then shot towards the sea outside the island. Instantly, over half the island turned to desert, sand churning aimlessly, disrupting everyone's vision and perception while surging towards Garp and the others.
"After them!" Kizaru and Aokiji took to the air in pursuit. The four instantly left the battlefield. Crocodile had lost more than half his life force. Concentrating their attacks, the two Admirals might capture him.
Others wanted to give chase but were tied down by their respective opponents. Moreover, Marine Headquarters dared not truly send everyone out. In fact, if not for Kizaru and Aokiji's extreme speed,
Sengoku would have ordered them not to pursue. It wasn't that their judgment of the combat opportunity was wrong, but the current situation was extremely complex.
Dragon, an Emperor, Blackbeard, the Whitebeard remnants... none were easy to deal with.
"The rest depends on their own fate!" With Rosen and Hathaway gone, the Marines didn't pursue further. Sabo and the others also lost their will to fight. After all, combat was a last resort.
The situation was now even more complicated.
But with Rosen no longer present, he could no longer serve as the new war's trigger.
In truth, whether Marine Headquarters, the Whitebeard Pirates, or Blackbeard, none had the heart to continue fighting. Had Marine Headquarters not risked trying to execute Crocodile, the war should have ended.
"Does Fleet Admiral Sengoku, Fleet Admiral Kong, truly wish to continue?" Dragon said calmly.
Red-Haired sheathed his sword. There was no way a fight would break out now. Unless the World Government and Marine Headquarters lost their minds trying to capture Dragon, this mutually wary stalemate wouldn't erupt into battle.
Because no one knew what trump cards the other side held.
Fleet Admiral Sengoku and Fleet Admiral Kong exchanged a glance, understanding each other's thoughts. Dragon's appearance was too suspicious. Sengoku also somewhat regretted his earlier order; it had almost caused an irreparable situation.
"Prioritize treating the wounded." With Garp's statement, the war was declared over.
