"What are you trying to say?" City Lord Guang furrowed his brows, a sense of ominous premonition washing over him.
As expected, Elder Ming whispered, "Your Guang Family’s succession is ironclad. Unless you commit treason against the nation, you are all considered innocent." After a pause, he added, "If you get too close to certain people, you will lose the Emperor’s favor! You must stay away!"
City Lord Guang’s expression turned instantly frigid, as if spring had given way to the dead of winter. He chuckled coldly. "I understand. But I know what to do. Elder Ming, please leave."
"You..."
Elder Ming felt that City Lord Guang had lost his mind. How could a man who had always been so astute suddenly become so unreasonable?
"Hmph!" Disgusted by what he saw, Elder Ming stormed off with a flick of his sleeves.
A short while later, Wu Tian placed a historical record back on the shelf. "Alright," he said.
He now understood the major events of the past ten thousand years. His Heavenless Immortal Domain had been destroyed, and its destroyers had used it as a foundation to establish the Endless Divine Realm. Wu Tian was quite curious to see who had been so audacious.
"Are you really finished? Have you memorized it all?" City Lord Guang finally couldn’t help but ask. Even with a photographic memory, it’s impossible to retain so much information so quickly, isn’t it?
"Yes, I’ve memorized it," Wu Tian said with a smile before turning to leave.
City Lord Guang hurried after him.
Just before exiting the Library, Wu Tian paused. Without turning to look at Elder Ming, he stated coldly, "Be careful, or you’ll die."
His figure flickered, and he was gone from the Library, with City Lord Guang following close behind.
"How arrogant... How utterly arrogant..." Elder Ming was livid. Not even King Xiuyuan had ever spoken to him that way. This sudden surge of anger left him breathless, his face draining of all color. He cried out immediately, "Imperial Physician! Call the Imperial Physician! Quickly!"
PFFT!
He sprayed a mouthful of blood and fainted on the spot.
「Back at Duke Guang’s Mansion」
Wu Tian immediately began instructing City Lord Guang on how to cultivate the "Mountain and Sea Slash." His guidance was incredibly detailed. When he spoke, there were no grand miracles like golden lotuses blooming from the earth, but every sentence was simple and easy to understand. City Lord Guang found his previous points of confusion clearing up one by one, leading to one epiphany after another. He’s truly worthy of being the Wutian Celestial Emperor’s successor, the City Lord marveled to himself.
After instructing the City Lord and seeing that it was still early, Wu Tian returned to his room. While teaching, a crucial point had occurred to him.
A sect, a power... how could it possibly lack a fundamental cultivation technique? Wouldn’t that be a joke?
Wu Tian closed his eyes, sinking deep into thought. Gradually, two words flashed through his mind: Martial Spirit!
In the current Immortal Emperor Realm, the Beast Clan was running rampant, but few were willing to fight them. The weak were no match for them, and the strong claimed to be too busy, leaving the common people to suffer. The Martial Spirit cultivation method Wu Tian envisioned could change this entire phenomenon. However, it was not something that could be created overnight. For example, what level of beast should be hunted for the first Realm? And what about the Second Realm? These were all things Wu Tian needed to consider carefully.
Wu Tian stepped outside to look for Qin Yuhan and the others, but they were still asleep. Qin Yuhan was sleeping like an adorable piglet—beauty sleep, perhaps. Hong Ji and Lan Niang had gone to water the flowers. The Meat-and-Wine Monk had gone out begging for food at the crack of dawn. Normally, when a monk seeks sustenance, it’s called asking for alms. This monk, however, insisted on begging like a common vagrant. City Lord Guang had told him there was plenty of food at the mansion, but the monk insisted on going out, saying it had become a habit.
Deciding he couldn’t bear to be cooped up any longer, Wu Tian prepared to go out himself. He knew that leaving would inevitably lead to trouble. With his face, everyone in the Royal City probably now knew who had killed the Regent King and the King’s Teacher’s chief subordinate. If he went out, he would likely be mobbed—some grateful for him killing the Regent King, others hating him for slaughtering the King’s Teacher’s subordinate.
But Wu Tian had a plan. He thought of the 72 Transformations. With a slight shimmer, he transformed into War God Ye, the arrogant and prideful third prince from the neighboring country.
’War God Ye’ chuckled and walked out. The moment he stepped out of Duke Guang’s Mansion, his Spiritual Sense flared, detecting someone watching the mansion from the tavern next door. He immediately headed toward it. The people in the tavern noticed his approach but did nothing.
As ’War God Ye’ entered the tavern, a server immediately invited him upstairs. This establishment, as it turned out, was owned by the Heavenly Sword Sect.
Upstairs, an old man instructed the server, "Remember, no matter what you hear, do not come in."
"Yes, sir," the server replied, nodding before he departed.
The old man then turned to ’War God Ye’. "Prince War God, what brings you out from Duke Guang’s Mansion?"
"That’s a secret," ’War God Ye’ replied, acting as cocky and arrogant as he possibly could. After all, it fit the persona perfectly.
"I see." The elder nodded. He knew this was typical of War God Ye, so he had no choice but to introduce himself. "This old man is the Great Elder of the Heavenly Sword Sect."
"Oh! So you are the Great Elder of the Heavenly Sword Sect." ’War God Ye’ reined in some of his arrogance and offered a cupped-fist salute.
"War God Ye, I hope you will not return to Duke Guang’s Mansion, because I’m about to kill someone," the Heavenly Sword Sect’s Great Elder said.
"Kill someone?" ’War God Ye’ frowned slightly.
"Indeed," the Great Elder continued. "This Wu Tian is a first-rate demon. Our Heavenly Sword Sect is incredibly strict when selecting disciples. Every single one is a person of the highest caliber, with unimpeachable character and outstanding virtue! But that Wu Tian killed my disciples without a second thought. How outrageous!"
Seriously? People of the highest caliber? Outstanding virtue? Wu Tian almost gagged.
’War God Ye’ nearly spat. Those disciples from the Heavenly Sword Sect all had their noses in the air. A single glance told you they were no good.
"Are you sure your disciples are really that good? You’re not trying to fool me, are you?" ’War God Ye’ asked, a playful smirk on his lips.
"Of course! The noble character of my Heavenly Sword Sect’s disciples is known by everyone throughout Xiuyuan Country!" the Great Elder declared with a confident laugh.
I think I’m going to be sick, ’War God Ye’ thought, rendered utterly speechless.
"By the way, Third Prince, can you tell me now what you were doing at Duke Guang’s Mansion?" Unable to restrain his curiosity, the Great Elder asked again. Surely the third prince will tell me now, out of respect for my status?
’War God Ye’ didn’t know what to say. He let out a soft chuckle. Forget it. If there’s nothing to say, don’t say it. Just fight.
Without another word, ’War God Ye’ lunged at the Great Elder, who was still waiting for an answer.
He was caught completely off guard.
"ARGH!"
The Great Elder took the punch head-on. He spat out a mouthful of blood as he was sent flying backward, crashing hard against the wall.
「Downstairs in the tavern」
The servants were alarmed.
"What was that sound? Should we go check?"
"Don’t you dare!" another servant hissed, stopping them. "Our true boss gave orders. No matter what we hear, we are not to go upstairs or even get close."
