Chapter 393 - 24: Damn That Admin Dog
Chapter 393 - 24: Damn That Admin Dog
The Elf Military Officers of the Royal Court stood frozen, their eyes trembling as they stared.
"To think he actually managed to defeat a Celestial God’s Shadow..."
No one would look down on Duke Qinghui because of Westheid’s current, battered state. The opponent he had faced was a Demon, after all—a being of pure Divinity! It wasn’t that beings with Divinity couldn’t be defeated, but ever since the Demons began to plague the Thousand Laws Royal Court, this was the very first one to be slain by a mortal’s hand.
Besides, no matter how he looked, Westheid was the rightful victor. He was the one standing here now, head held high and chest out with pride!
"What’s wrong? Did you think I couldn’t pull it off?"
Westheid walked up to Amithren and the other Royal Court Elves and said with a light chuckle:
"You really looked down on me, didn’t you? You were the ones who hired me, yet you didn’t even place your hopes for victory on my shoulders?"
An Elf Military Officer waved his hands frantically.
"No! Of course not! We... we simply didn’t wish for Duke Qinghui to put himself in such peril. The plan had a safer approach; we only needed you to hold down the Demon Form. But being able to kill it... that is, of course, the best possible outcome."
"If that’s the case, then how does the Royal Court celebrate its victors?"
Westheid’s eyes sharpened as he smiled.
At his hint... no, his explicit demand, the Elf Military Officers of the Royal Court all bowed, some even dropping to one knee.
"Please forgive our discourtesy, esteemed Lord Westheid. Please accept our most profound respect!"
"May your valor ring out in a song of triumph, and may your path forward be free of all discord!"
They showed not the slightest hint of displeasure. Westheid’s accomplishments were more than enough to warrant such a humble, kneeling tribute.
In fact, that Westheid only made such a simple request made him seem almost... adorable.
Most of the Elves remained restrained, but some—namely Amithren and a few others—even took the opportunity to take liberties with Westheid, openly planting kisses on him.
"Taking that guy down tired me out a bit. I won’t be joining the rest of the battle; I’ll leave the cleanup to you. I suppose this campaign can be considered a total victory, right?"
Seeing that he had successfully established a respectable image in the eyes of the Royal Court Elves, Westheid nodded in satisfaction and spoke.
’After taking care of the Master of Decay and his Bone Demon followers, there shouldn’t be any more trouble. The Central Army can’t possibly lose to some local troops, can they?’
However, upon hearing this, Yolanda put away her camera and said:
"It’s not that simple, actually. While you were locked in a grueling battle with the Master of Decay, a nearby entrenched Demon, the Master of Blazing Flames, dispatched his forces to advance on our position."
’Huh? Another powerhouse?’
Westheid fell silent.
’I know my own body best. Even with the Withered Glory Sun’s healing abilities, the accumulated injuries from the Master of Decay are still terrifying. I’ll need at least a week to recover my strength. I doubt I’ll be able to fight another battle during that time.’
’Fighting a being with Divinity in a mortal body, winning purely through brute force... it’s still too much of a strain. If another Demon shows up, I’ll have no choice but to retreat.’
’But I just put on a big show of force. To immediately retreat into my shell would be way too embarrassing.’
Seemingly sensing Westheid’s predicament, the Elf Military Officers quickly said:
"Please, don’t worry. There’s no need to trouble you again. We’ve already repaired the nodes in these Cities in the Lake and sent out a signal. With this, everything will be fine."
"Because the Grand Law Officer is here!"
.......
After the Royal Court Alliance Army had departed, the team of Tuners led by Eilvette had actually been on standby the entire time. They weren’t cowering; it was simply that the power of a Tuner could not be brought to bear within the Demons’ twisted Grand Ensemble.
Thus, the primary objective of the campaign was never to defeat the Demon Form. It was to recapture the Cities in the Lake and correct the Thousand Laws Ceremony, which had been twisted and distorted by the Celestial God’s Shadow. That was all.
As long as that objective was achieved, nothing else would be a problem.
’They completed the objective this quickly...? Was choosing an outsider the right first step after all?’
Eilvette stood at the prow of a Wave-Breaking Ship as it set sail. Behind him, hundreds of Tuners methodically wove their Techniques, striving to reconnect this region with the Grand Ensemble of the Central Royal Court.
And the results of the completed repairs would be verified by the Grand Law Officer himself.
Taking a deep breath, Eilvette raised his hands and waved them gently, as if conducting a symphony.
A brilliant sheen covered his eyes, radiant with multicolored light. Around his body, faint golden strings invisible to mortal eyes appeared, constantly crisscrossing and shimmering.
And what Eilvette was doing was manipulating the Thousand Laws Ceremony by virtue of his unique professional traits.
"Through the majesty of a thousand mountains and the embrace of ten thousand rivers, the harmony of the Melody is made manifest."
"All discordant notes—be purged!"
With a gentle wave of his hand, the territory once occupied by the Master of Decay began to undergo a world-altering transformation.
The twisted, withered jungles cast off their corrosion and burst back to life. The vast forests visibly sprouted new branches and leaves, becoming lush, verdant, and thick with blossoms.
The ruined Cities in the Lake, riddled with damage, reassembled themselves as if time were flowing in reverse, their broken walls and rubble returning to their rightful places.
Even the terrain torn asunder by the battle between Westheid and the Master of Decay was restored amidst world-shaking tremors. Great chasms in the earth were sealed, shattered valleys were filled in, and even the gardens ravaged by the Fire of Extinction and the Withering Law were soothed in mere moments, erasing every scar branded upon the land.
As for the enemy forces near the border—the Flame Demon spawn of the Master of Blazing Flames who were marching on this location—they were repeatedly scoured by massive, invisible waves of Magic Power. Their formations, tens of thousands strong, their towering war constructs, and the lava-infused Flame Demons themselves were like sandcastles before a tsunami. They were washed away like simple toys, scattered and utterly broken.
And all of this happened within just a few short hours of Eilvette invoking the Thousand Laws Ceremony.
Westheid was utterly astounded. Although he was already aware of the power and status of the Thousand Laws Ceremony, knowing about it and witnessing it firsthand were two entirely different things. A Legendary Powerhouse could certainly tear the earth’s surface and topple mountains, but to perform restoration and cleansing on such a massive scale was no longer within the realm of mortal power.
’Creative Mode?! Holy crap, talk about admin privileges!’
Westheid muttered, "Damn it all... this power is practically a miracle. No, it *is* a miracle. The power the Tuners use comes directly from this Land of Rhythm..."
Seeing his reaction, the Royal Court Elves couldn’t help but say to Westheid with pride:
"This is the power of the Tuners! In this land, under the protection of the Divine Ancestor, we are invincible!"
Although they said this to prove to Westheid that the Royal Court had its own strength and wasn’t just relying on outside help, the words didn’t sound nearly as pleasant to his ears.
’At least now I’ve completely given up any thought of confronting Eilvette head-on. That admin abuser is completely unbeatable. He has the stats, and he has the system mechanics.’
Only after the Grand Law Officer made his move were the Cities in the Lake once occupied by the Master of Decay considered truly recaptured. Even if the Demon himself were to appear, he could not possibly withstand the awesome power of the Thousand Laws Ceremony.
Westheid rendezvoused with the team of Tuners at the nearest City in the Lake.
"Duke Qinghui, I heard you single-handedly slew the Master of Decay?"
Eilvette got straight to the point the moment they met. "Good. Very good. I suppose I can trust you a little more now."
His words were still so blunt as to be grating. Though he was clearly praising him, Westheid felt little respect in his tone.
Westheid sighed. "I overestimated myself. A single, unranked Demon forced me to go all out. If more Celestial God’s Shadows appear one after another, I may not be able to handle them. Lord Eilvette, if you could bring my companions here as well, our pace in liberating the Land of Rhythm would surely quicken."
"That... is a matter for a later discussion. Right now, there is a more pressing matter to attend to."
Previously, the Grand Law Officer would have refused outright. But now, he had actually left some room for negotiation.
Eilvette turned to look at the City in the Lake and said with venom in his voice:
"And that is to purge the traitors!"
