Chapter 141: FRIDA - 141
Chapter 141: FRIDA - 141
Frida’s pov:
The rain poured heavily, the streets were wet and slippery.
She ran under the rain, until she reached back to the bushes where they camped.
When she was going, she had been so worried she didn’t even realize the distance she crossed to get to her destination.
At some point she thought of running, they wouldn’t be able to find her if she just ran and hid but it was a bad idea.
They would find her and kill her as a deserter. The thought alone chilled her inside as she took a deep breath.
She heard them talk, "Surely you don’t think she will survive?"
"The journey is tedious, she probably died on the way." They laughed.
She smirked then entered the tent, silencing their laughter.
Master Song looked at her with pride as she entered, there was a map on the table and she guessed they were discussing military strategies.
She walked up to him, sitting by his side. "I’m back master Song." he beamed tapping her shoulder.
"Indeed you have returned and what information have you gathered?" he asked.
Master Wind looked very distraught as though he wished she hadn’t made it alive.
Well too bad she thought as she began telling the master Song the information.
"The sixth prince is very promising, he has gathered allies far superior than the crown prince’s court and is closer to the emperor than the crown prince. If the crown prince isn’t careful he would be eliminated by the sixth prince’s incredible wit and excellent manners with his outrageous growing number of supporters. This is the discussion between minister Alan and Minister Link, their identity was tagged to the tables they sat." she explained.
"The third prince, although stoic, is incredibly intelligent, passing the state exam as the top student in the whole empire. I say he is the brightest among his brothers. Indeed he shows promise. This is the discussion between General Eldon and Colonel Rust." She continued.
"Saint Darwin, the head of financial affairs, had signed a document on the development of Yellow village yet little to no progress had been made. They were suspecting the finance minister. Colonel Rust asked General Eldon, "Are you suggesting that the saint has embezzled funds?" She repeated exactly what she had heard.
"After this the crown prince and the seventh prince, according to their tags attended the gathering. It was a very narrow escape for me." she said all in one breath before exhaling.
Master Song actually clapped "Excellent, remarkable. This information is more valuable than anything else..."
"That is why she almost had her throat cut off, now I’ll have to bear the punishment for her." Laziel’s voice startled the men and they bowed.
"From now on until she is well trained do not send her into the lion’s den, or you will all take the punishment and be executed. You are highly trained experts. I don’t expect you to send rookies to their deaths and go free. You will be punished on their behalf for your amateurish behavior." he warned them, they didn’t raise their heads because they knew they had offended him.
"To disobey me is a high crime." he said, her head was still bowed and she was shivering when she felt a warm heavy material placed over her. His outer robe.
"This is my last warning, anyone who dares to manipulate and use her for classified missions and information until she is ready will suffer the wrath of the crown prince." he said and the men gasped.
The cool room quickly turned hot "Because of your carelessness, the crown prince has picked an interest in her today. Do not make me repeat myself again."
The sound of his retreating feet was a relief and as soon as he left the aura of the room changed.
She felt undeniable hatred for her among the men and it saddened her.
"Go inside, change your clothes and get some rest." Master Song said.
She bowed "I’m sorry master."
"It is not your fault, it is mine for being easily influenced by the words of others. I should have known better than to send you into the nest of snakes." he said as she stood up, bowed and left.
Later that night a soft knock sounded on her door, she stirred on her mat then moved to get the door.
"We are on the move, come out!" a soft gentle voice said.
Not like any of the men’s mean voices, she came out with Wesley "Who are you?" She asked
Surprised to see a boy about her age, with very white hair and red eyes.
He was an albino, she guessed because his eyeballs were shaking.
A very beautiful boy in her perspective "Is something on my face?" he asked irritatedly as he pulled her donkey to her.
"No I’m just surprised to see you, I’ve been surrounded by mean men all day." she said in an enthusiastic tone he did not share.
"Well I’m not any nicer, just younger. You should wear something thicker. It’s going to be a long cold night and we are going on a mission." he said and she nodded.
She searched through her sack, the only clothes she had was Mrs Paisley’s large tunic, she sighed looking at it then the prince’s robes..
The prince’s robes were too elegant for such a journey and might attract robbers. She touched it, why had he given it to her?
She tossed it into her sack.
Then put on Mrs Paisley’s tunic It swallowed her whole so she wrapped it over and over again until it fit like a gown.
She packed up her things and tossed them on her donkey.
"Well that took you forever, they are about to leave us." the boy said grumpily, loosening the tent she had stayed in.
"What is your name?" she asked and he looked at her wearily.
"SnowAxel." he said then focused on dismantling the tent and wrapping it up.
"I get the feeling you don’t like me SnowAxel." she noted and he wrapped up the tent, before giving her any more attention.
"Well I guess you must be somewhat smart then, I don’t like girls, especially girls who will become a burden during our trip. You get that?" he said walking away to where the men mounted their horses.
She sighed "This was hell."
