Chapter 169 Throwing the Ring

Chapter 169 Throwing the Ring

Ni Jiamu returned to the office after a morning meeting. He took off his glasses and rubbed his temples. His cold had not yet healed, and he felt a little exhausted after a whole morning of meetings.

The phone screen lit up, and it was a text message from Wang Ma. He clicked it and found that this was the second text message from Wang Ma.

The first text message came at nine in the morning: "Xiaoyu seems to be in a much better mood. She went downstairs to eat today. Although she didn't eat much, she is obviously in a much better mood. Jiamu, remember to take your medicine. Your cold is still not over."

After reading it, a smile appeared on Ni Jiamu's face, and the fatigue just now was swept away. He then read the second text message, and the smile froze on his face in an instant.

"I don't know what happened, Xiaoyu went out for a while and came back in a low mood again, with red eyes. She sat on the sofa holding a ring box and staring at it. Jiamu, you are not busy at work, come back and take a look."

After reading the message, Ni Jiamu immediately called his secretary and said, "Cancel all afternoon meetings." Without giving the other party time to respond, he hung up the phone. Then he grabbed his coat from the back of the chair and rushed to the garage.

Stepping into the house, just as Wang Ma said, Mo Yu sat quietly on the sofa, holding a ring in her hand, staring at it motionlessly, as if she was lost in it. She didn't even notice Ni Jiamu standing behind her.

"Xiao Yu" Ni Jiamu called softly. Hearing the voice, Mo Yu shook her head slightly, but her eyes were still fixed on the ring.

Ni Jiamu sat down next to Mo Yu and reached out for the ring, but Mo Yu, as if she had been electrocuted, raised her hand and slapped his hand with a "snap". At the same time, she moved to the side.

"Don't touch my things"

Ni Jiamu also moved closer to her with a smile on his face. "This ring is old. I'll buy you a new one."

"No, this is what Hecheng left for me."

Ni Jiamu's face instantly turned gloomy, and a dark light surged in his eyes. He stretched out his hand and said in a deep voice, "Xiao Yu, give me the things and I will help you put them away. Don't be sad for Xiao Hecheng anymore and forget about him." After that, he was about to take the ring from Mo Yu's hand again.

Mo Yu put the ring behind her back, her face full of resistance. "No, why do you have to control everything? You didn't let me contact Xiao Hecheng before, and now you want to take away the things he left for me."

"Because you're mine."

Ni Jiamu grabbed Mo Yu's shoulder and reached behind her to grab the ring. Mo Yu twisted her body, her eyes full of anger. The next second, she opened her mouth and bit Ni Jiamu's wrist fiercely. Ni Jiamu gasped in pain and tried to pull his hand back, but she bit him tightly.

It wasn't until blood flowed out, staining Mo Yu's originally pale lips red, that she suddenly came to her senses, her eyes panicked and guilty, "Brother, I'm sorry, I..."

"You actually bit me for a dead person?" Ni Jiamu's eyes were full of hurt. He made up his mind, snatched the ring with a big hand, turned and strode towards the window, swung his arm vigorously, and threw the ring out.

Mo Yu was stunned, and then her eyes turned red, tears welled up in her eyes, and she screamed, "Why did you throw my ring away?"

She turned and rushed to the door. Ni Jiamu took a step forward and tightly wrapped his arms around her waist, trapping her in his arms. Mo Yu struggled desperately, punching and kicking Ni Jiamu, crying and shouting.

"Let me go and let me find it."

Ni Jiamu acted as if she didn't hear anything. She picked her up and walked upstairs, muttering, "You're not well yet. Stop making trouble and rest first." When she arrived at the room, she put Mo Yu on the bed.

Mo Yu stood up and tried to run out again, but Ni Jiamu frowned and pressed her down on the bed. "Be good and have a good rest. Do you want me to accompany you?"

"Let me go, I hate you. I'm going to find the ring. I'm moving out tomorrow and I never want to see you again."

Hearing her words, Ni Jiamu felt as if his heart were being stabbed by countless needles, suffocating him with pain. Looking at her lips trembling with resentment, opening and closing to utter hurtful words, his Adam's apple moved, and as if possessed by some unknown force, he leaned over, placed his hands on either side of the bed, and kissed Mo Yu on the lips.

Mo Yu widened her eyes in horror and pushed his chest hard with both hands, but Ni Jiamu was too strong and she couldn't move him at all.

Ni Jiamu could no longer control his emotions. He quickly grabbed her restless hands with one hand and clasped them tightly above her head. With the other hand, he supported the back of her head and applied a little force to make her tilt her head back. He lightly touched her closed teeth with the tip of his tongue, trying to pry them open.

Suddenly, a sharp pain hit them, and the smell of blood filled their mouths. Mo Yu had bitten his tongue. Ni Jiamu groaned, let go of her, and stood up, a trace of blood still on his lips.

Mo Yu's whole body was shaking like a sieve, her face was as pale as paper, tears rolled down her cheeks, she covered her mouth with her hands, her voice was choked and shrill: "Why did you do this to me, I hate you, get out, I don't want to see you!"

Ni Jiamu's Adam's apple rolled, his eyes reddened, and he whispered, "I'm sorry, Xiaoyu. I feel bad when you said you didn't want to be with me."

Mo Yu grabbed a pillow and threw it at him, her voice hoarse and almost broken, gasping for breath, her face flushed red: "Get out!"

"Okay, I'll go."

Ni Jiamu turned around silently, closed the door, and the moment he stepped out of the room, a tear quietly slipped down his cheeks.

Ni Jiamu sat on the sofa downstairs like a lost statue until darkness completely settled in. Then, he slowly stood up and walked downstairs with heavy steps to the grass where he had lost the ring.

At night, the temperature dropped a lot. He shrank his neck, squatted down, and searched carefully in the grass with his hands. His eyes were careful and focused, not missing any gap that might contain the ring.

The moonlight was cold, illuminating his increasingly tired face. The dew in the grass had wet his trouser legs, but he was completely unaware. From time to time, the cold wind made him cough, and the sound carried far away in the silent night.

He searched from the horizon where there was still a glimmer of light until the night was as thick as ink, and then to the dawn in the east. His fingers were scratched by the grass leaves and his knees were sore and numb. Finally, under a clump of grass leaves, he saw a ring reflecting a glimmer of light. His eyes lit up and he reached out to grab it. He stood up excitedly, but perhaps he had squatted for too long and stood up too quickly. He felt dizzy, his head was buzzing, and his body swayed a few times before he could barely steady himself.

He checked his phone and saw it was already five in the morning. He rubbed his sore eyes, not wanting to rest, knowing he had to rush to the office at seven. He quietly walked into Mo Yu's room. The room was dimly lit. In the faint morning light, he saw the girl sleeping restlessly on the bed, her brow furrowed, her lips mumbling from time to time. Every time she called out "Hecheng" to him, it felt like a sharp knife slicing through his flesh.

He sat quietly beside the bed, gazing at her with a complex and longing look. As seven o'clock approached, Mo Yu's eyelids moved, and she slowly opened her eyes. Through her hazy eyes, she saw the tall, yet slightly lonely figure beside the bed. She instantly woke up, guessing it was Ni Jiamu, and quickly closed her eyes again, pretending to sleep.

After a while, she heard light footsteps that gradually faded away. She carefully sat up and turned around to see the ring lying quietly on the bedside table, gleaming in the dim light.

Her eyes instantly lit up like bright stars. She reached out and grabbed it, holding it tightly in her palm. Then she quickly opened the drawer and hid the ring in the deepest part. The corners of her mouth rose unconsciously, but there were still traces of tears in the corners of her eyes.
